Surgical instruments for the operating room and analysis laboratory
The HOPE hospital is a true, small miracle in Calcutta. An organized hospital, made up of first-rate doctors who have decided to dedicate their professionalism and passion to welcoming children and adults who live on the streets or in slums, sick people who could never afford to receive appropriate medical care, free of charge.
This hospital is a beacon of reference (and salvation) for many of the street children who attend our schools. In fact, some children, after being admitted to this hospital, were sent to one of our facilities once they recovered.
Every year Skychildren buy an instrument for the hospital. In 2022 we opened a Laboratory Medicine section within the hospital for medical analyses, equipped with UPS, air conditioning, all diagnostic instruments and new specialized machinery generation.
The section includes 5 specialist laboratories: Clinical Pathology, Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunochemistry and Histopathology. Being able to count on six internal specialist laboratories significantly increases the medical-health care services offered by the hospital, helping doctors to carry out diagnoses in a shorter time, to develop an optimal treatment plan and better manage patient care.
The samples are now analyzed internally (previously they were sent to third-party laboratories for a fee), saving precious time and money, which is essential to be able to treat more and more people in need. In the six new laboratories it is expected to carry out 100-110 tests per day, approximately. Results achieved
Instruments donated to the hospital: electrosurgical units; dental unit; forceps; orthopedic reamer; BIPAP; mechanical lung ventilator; audiometer; Skin Graft Mesher (to make the skin sample suitable for grafting on the patient who has suffered serious burns and is subject to severe infections).
In the 12 months, 2.432 patients were treated with the 7 machines we donated,of which 1.816 received completely free treatment, the others received treatment at controlled costs, this revenue contributes to the self-sustaining of the charitable hospital.
4.692 patients have benefited from the Specialized Laboratory in the last 12 months (of which 1,700 children and 2.992 adults). (di cui 1.700 bambini e 2.992 adulti).
